Trinidad y Tobago es un país de dos islas en el extremo sur del Caribe, muy cerca de la costa de Venezuela. Las dos islas son muy diferentes: Trinidad es la más grande, industrializada y el centro económico, mientras que Tobago es más pequeña, tranquila y se enfoca en el turismo y la naturaleza. A diferencia de sus vecinos caribeños cuya economía depende del turismo, la riqueza de Trinidad y Tobago proviene de sus grandes reservas de petróleo y gas natural, lo que lo convierte en uno de los países más ricos de la región.

Culturalmente, es un vibrante crisol de influencias africanas e indias, descendientes de esclavos y trabajadores llevados a las plantaciones. Esta mezcla explota en su espectacular Carnaval, el más grande del Caribe, famoso por sus concursos de calipso y soca, y la invención de un instrumento musical único: el steelpan (tambor metálico), creado a partir de bidones de petróleo. El país es también el lugar de nacimiento del baile del limbo. Su capital es Puerto España, en la isla de Trinidad.

Trinidad and Tobago is a twin-island country in the southernmost part of the Caribbean, very close to the coast of Venezuela. The two islands are very different: Trinidad is the larger, more industrialized economic hub, while Tobago is smaller, quieter, and focused on tourism and nature. Unlike its Caribbean neighbors whose economies depend on tourism, the wealth of Trinidad and Tobago comes from its large reserves of oil and natural gas, making it one of the richest countries in the region.

Culturally, it is a vibrant melting pot of African and Indian influences, descendants of slaves and indentured laborers brought to the plantations. This mix explodes in its spectacular Carnival, the largest in the Caribbean, famous for its calypso and soca music competitions, and the invention of a unique musical instrument: the steelpan, created from oil drums. The country is also the birthplace of the limbo dance. Its capital is Port of Spain, on the island of Trinidad.
