La República de Guinea es un país de África Occidental con una importante costa en el Océano Atlántico. The Republic of Guinea is a West African country with a significant coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. It is known as the "Water Tower of West Africa" because some of the region's most important rivers, such as the Niger, Senegal, and Gambia, originate in its highlands, in the Fouta Djallon region. Despite being one of the wettest countries on the continent, it also holds incredible mineral wealth: it has the world's largest reserves of bauxite (the ore from which aluminum is extracted), as well as significant deposits of iron ore, gold, and diamonds.

After its independence from France in 1958, Guinea took a markedly different path from its neighbors under the leadership of Sékou Touré, rejecting the French community and aligning with the Soviet bloc, which led to a long period of isolation. Its political history has been complex and often unstable. Culturally, Guinea has a very rich heritage, especially in music. It is the birthplace of the djembe drum and of world-renowned groups like Bembeya Jazz National. Its capital, Conakry, is located on a peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic.
