Tayikistán es un país montañoso y sin salida al mar en el corazón de Asia Central. Es, literalmente, el "Techo del Mundo": más del 90% de su territorio está cubierto por montañas, principalmente la imponente cordillera del Pamir. Esto lo convierte en un destino épico para el senderismo y la aventura a lo largo de la famosa Carretera del Pamir. A diferencia de sus vecinos, que son de origen túrquico, los tayikos tienen una herencia cultural persa, y su idioma es un dialecto del farsi. Tajikistan is a mountainous, landlocked country in the heart of Central Asia. It is, literally, the "Roof of the World": over 90% of its territory is covered by mountains, primarily the imposing Pamir range. This makes it an epic destination for trekking and adventure along the famous Pamir Highway. Unlike its neighbors, who are of Turkic origin, the Tajiks have a Persian cultural heritage, and their language is a dialect of Farsi. As a former Soviet republic, its independence was followed by a harsh civil war in the 1990s, from which it is still recovering. It remains one of the poorest countries in the region, relying heavily on remittances sent home by its workers in Russia. Its capital is Dushanbe.
